Can you believe it? After a year and a half on hiatus, Broadway is returning to Detroit! The last time I experienced an evening of live musical theatre was last March, just days before the world turned upside-down and productions all over the world began canceling dates and closing doors. While none of us will ever truly be the same, I am so grateful for the motor city to welcome back such an integral component to the arts community, and frankly—for theatre to start returning to cities across the globe.

This October marks 60 years since the Fisher Theatre was transformed from a movie and vaudeville house into a live theatre venue. Now—842,400 minutes since its last performance—the Fisher is kicking off a new era with “525,600 minutes” in the life of a familiar group of friends. That’s right, musical lovers: Get ready to welcome the RENT 25th Anniversary Farewell Tour to town as Broadway In Detroit’s intermission finally comes to an end.
