These photos, my friends, are from the gorgeous
Greenbrier resort, located in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. Brad and I spent Labor Day weekend here with our extended family, celebrating my grandparents' 60th wedding anniversary. Pretty impressive, if I may say so--the place
and the sixty years. I'm still asking myself how on earth I ended up hanging out in a place as
swankified as this--but the answer is simple: I am very blessed, and my family is pretty amazing.

Now, if you've never been to the Greenbrier, I suggest that you pack up your things and go now. Wait--make a reservation six months in advance and then go. No, no . . . that's save up lots of money, RSVP,
then go. You see, the Greenbrier is beautiful, but it doesn't come cheap. After all, a visit to this lovely resort will give you access to swimming, tennis, horseback riding, fishing, upscale shopping, remarkable dinners, and
championship golf courses, all in a location frequented by
celebrities,
presidents, and historical figures. The dress code is classy, the staff is genuine and personable, and there is fantastic kitsch oozing out of every
Dorothy Draper-inspired corner. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised by how bright and classic-meets-modern the decor was, and started to gain a new-found appreciation for colorful, "mismatched-chic" (a descriptor coined by yours truly).

Hallways and Sitting Areas
As part of the "younger crowd," I can also say that Brad,
Carolyn, my cousins, and I all used our time wisely. You know, taking pictures of ourselves in the bathrooms, acting grown-up in our fancy clothes, stuff like that.
 |
| Sneaking away from the hotel tour because taking pictures of ourselves in pretty bathrooms is much more important. |
The best event of the weekend, by far, was the private celebration dinner my grandparents set up for the whole family to enjoy. Fabulous food and royal treatment--I will take it.
 |
| My grandma and grandpa, admiring life-size versions of themselves. I love this photo a lot. |
 |
| Surf and turf. Chocolate cake. I don't usually use the phrase "OMG," but in the case of delicious food, it has to be done. |
Much love and thanks to my grandparents and the rest of our family for a fantastic weekend and celebration!
Thank you, also, for giving me an opportunity to wear my fancy shoes. ;)
XO,
Jennifer

But no photo of your fancy shoes?
Thanks for a new word - SWANKIFIED!
Greetings from my very swanky apartment :-)
Haha! Heike, I love your use of "swanky." And never fear, you can see up-close photos of my fancy shoes here: http://www.wadinginbigshoes.com/2011/12/wicked.html :)
